About the McNeese Summer Percussion/Drumline Camp
We take great pride in offering a well-rounded percussion experience, while having a primary focus on marching percussion. (We are leading up to marching band season, after all!) The marching percussion camp portion is designed for students to improve their skills on snare, tenors, and bass drum. Students should come with a goal of improving on one of these battery percussion instruments.
In addition to marching percussion, students have performance opportunities in the following world music ensembles:
- Steel Drums
- African Drum & Dance
- Brazilian Percussion
These exciting areas of the percussion track will present each student with the opportunity to learn and experience the music of these unique cultures. Marching percussion will consume half of the instruction each day and continue to be the primary focus of the camp.
Percussion camp faculty members have performed with and instructed world class drum and bugle corps including The Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment, and Blue Knights. All faculty members have also performed in the world music ensembles being offered.
Percussion campers will perform as part of our camp finale on Thursday afternoon and participate in all evening activities, such as sports night, movie/game night and pool night.
